Who knew playing sports was so much fun??! I just spent the past 2.5 hours playing ultimate frisbee in the rain with my fellow PwC summer interns. Granted, it didn't take long for a frisbee to come flying and hit my nose but it was actually a lot of FUN. When you actually make the effort to try, it's not that bad. And besides, I was beside myself in stitches because Cordie, the most hilarious girl ever, was just as bad as me and together we made tweedledee and tweedledum look like experts....at whatever they're supposed to do. So yup, all in all it was a GREAT experience. Yay for learning new things! I think that's going to be my *motif* for this summer: new experiences.
For instance, another new experience was tonight i had "street meat" for the first time ever. Yup, Evelyn and I had hot dogs from a street vendor right by the UofT campus. So cheap and really quite good! Now, i definitely wouldn't do this on a regular basis (the bbq breathe wasn't too hot - boh) but definitely something i've wanted to try in a while. Also, where would you get this in Calgary? Heck, my mom has to go all the way to COSTCO to get cheap hotdogs!! *laughs*
Speaking of trying new things, i'm really impresed with my aunt. She just spent the past two weeks going on an African safari. Just her and a good friend - as I was combing through her gazillions of pictures, I realized that it's really cool just *experiencing* the world, and experiencing life. Enjoying it. Soaking it up. "Drinking life to the lees," as my good friend Alfred Lord Tennyson would say (Ulysses). So in my effort to do this, I've gone out of my comfort zone. Actually attempted playing team sports. Ordering the green curry instead of pad thai - don't laugh, this is a big deal for me! Even mustering up the courage to stop and say hello to a partner. Visiting my grandparents despite the language barrier. It's all just about making the most of what life has to offer you, and not worry about what other people think about you or whether you're doing it gracefully. The important thing is that you're doing it with a thankful heart, remembering that all these experiences are a direct gift from God.
