Let's talk about Washington D.C. restaurants. There just aren't enough meals in the day (or money in the pocket) to cover all the different kinds of cuisine and unique atmospheres!
I'd have to say that I'm the most impressed with this place called "Cosi" It's the ultimate lunch place, offering the neatest salads and sandwiches. The greatest thing: their bread. Oh yah, ladies, you heard me. They've got this amazing foccacia-like bread that is warm and just altogether amazing. And their operations are like a well-oiled Tim Hortons assembly line. During noon hour, i'm guessing they turnover at least a few hundred customers. Did i mention they also have coffee?? OOOH and they have this cute smores dish that you can order when you're having a "Sex and the city" moment with your best girlfriends. They give you this big plate full of everything you need, and keep this tiny flame going inside a dish...so interesting! Here's the link:
Second place: Au Bon Pain. This place has more bakery stuff...like fresh baked baguettes and croissants, and they also make soups and sandwiches. I've decided: soups and sandwiches ROCK. Best thing about this place is the 4-6pm HALF PRICE off all their bakery items! whohooo cinnamon buns and croissants and yes, i'm going very fat!! :) Here's the link:
3. Cheesecake factory. A little bit like the Cheesecake Cafe, but definitely more eclectic in atmosphere. They make a mean latte.
4. Cafe Asia - last night I went out to dinner at this really neat futuristically furnished restaurant called Cafe Asia. Besides having neat unisex bathrooms and a really chic atmosphere, the menu had the best of singaporean, thai, viet, jap, and chinese food! My friends wanted to try asian food, so it was a good call cuz we ordered everything from thai curry to sushi to beef rendang and i got an amazing singaporean chow gwai tyo. CLOSEST THING TO MALAYSIAN FOOD!! YUM!
5. Johnny Rockets Diner - it's totally this themed 50's diner that sells fries and hamburgers and milkshakes.
So yup, in case you can't tell I've had a TON of fun trying out new and different cuisines in the DC area...hehehe but the most american place i've found yet? IHOP!! hahhaa people are crazy about ihop here, it's not even funny!
