....you know what i realized today? You ever get into class, and as soon as the prof starts his lecture your eyes get all droopy and then your head gets heavy...and you start doing the bobbing thing, and then in an attempt to stay awake you start fidgeting your leg or holding your eyelids open with your fingers?? Well, i get that feeling pretty much everyday in most of my classes. I can't help it!! And here's the kicker: i think to myself, "man, i need to get more sleep" or "it's naptime when i get home" so i come back home and plop down for a nap. But then guess what?? I can't sleep a wink! I'm as alert as a lightbulb!! So what's the deal??
WELL...here's my theory. In life, whenever we're in situations that make us fall asleep from something OTHER than exhaustion, it's an indicator that we'd rather be DEAD than doing what we're doing right then. *laughs* Seriously, it's so true! Cuz if your subconscious would rather SLEEP and effectively take a "time-out" of living, then you know it's baaad.
And so, i think in life, we should aim to minimize those kinds of situations as much as possible. I mean, what good is it to be wasting away our lives on things that we would rather be dead than doing? haha, this coming from the accountant who falls asleep everyday at 3pm at her desk. *sigh* That's going to be interesting. But definitely, there are going to be responsibilities and obligations that we can't get out of...no matter how much we hate it. But i guess it's just an indicator that if even our SUBCONSCIOUS hates being where they are, you're probably going to have a tough time feeling fulfilled with what you're doing at the moment. Life is precious. Time is precious.
If you're doing something that you really don't want to, there'd better be a good reason. The sacrifice better be worthwhile, because you never know what could happen to you tomorrow or in the next five minutes. :) As for me, I'm happy to have spent my reading week with 11 awesome people singing "guanterramera" and dancing to cheesy resort theme songs. More than that, I'm happy to have spent the time to get those rare times when you catch an old-fashioned glimpse of a person's "innards" that they usually reserve for their blogs or those closest to them.
