Welcome to Andrea's blog! I didn't really know what kind of title to put...so it'll have to be my thus-far most unique identity as "boloh." For those of you who aren't aware of my boloh craze...boloh is pineapple in chinese, and it's the king of the fruits. But has there been a coup d'etat for the reining apple, you say?! No, the apple is still very much my fruit obssession...so right now, it's the great debate.

Although it might seem like this is all rambling...there IS a point. Boloh vs. apple is a literary metaphor for....well, since this is Andrea's blog, it really is a metaphor for me. Let me explain.

What kinds of connotations are associated with the "apple?" Apple goodness? Always safe, risk averse (yah microecon), 'ol reliable, and a perfect partner with vanilla? My friend Desiree would say that the "apple" is like being type A, typical, reliable, and well, "good." Apples are available all year round, they're good for everything from pies to being stuck in the mouth of a roast pig, to being put in a yummy woodenhead's pizza.

Then there's the boloh (or pineapple). The exotic, exhorbant, excessive, loud boloh. There's a reason why it's from Hawaii, the great island of escape (aka vacations). Bolohs are tangy, kind of random, super sweet and juicy.

So to summarize...let's draw some parallels: apple is to boloh like yin is to yang, like scully is to mulder, like simon is to garfunkel. They're opposites, but then again opposites attract. An apple/boloh combo.... And now i'm most *definitely* an insomniac!!
